Stephen Claybrook — Worship Pastor
It’s a fairly regular occurrence that someone comes to Crosspointe for the
first time, and finds the music we sing together nothing like the church
music they grew up with or expected. When looking for whom to thank for
that, you’ll find Stephen Claybrook.
Stephen came to Crosspointe as Worship Leader and Music Director in 2002
after working in a similar capacity at Willow Creek Community Church near
Chicago. His role at Crosspointe consists not only of leading worship songs,
but also leading the band that plays (rocks) so well behind him.
Additionally, he oversees the programming of our gatherings, special
performances, and the unique experiential environment, the Approach.
Stephen is proud husband to C.C., and together they adore their two preschool
children. Their family not only moved to the area out of a commitment to
help people pursue God, but continue to look for ways to move toward
people on their turf, bringing to them opportunities to experience the
Creator through creativity, music and an appreciation for all God has made.
“Other people (even Christians) want you to act a certain way, even if it’s
not who you are….but God never wants that. Just be honest with yourself and
with Him. He alone can affect real life change.”
Stephen loves to think and loves to laugh - especially with his kids, at
the word “pamphlet” or any time he’s not supposed to. He prides himself on
being the first bald guy on staff, though his baldness is largely not a
matter of choosing.
