Steve Daugherty — Teaching Pastor

So God exists. Big deal. Only strange people make investigating that a
central component of life.

Steve is happy to be now counted among the strange. Having grown
up around talk of God, and churchianity- there came a moment when
it was clear that if God was really God, not just the icon of morality, then
mere speculation about Him and the life He created wasn’t enough. A
real God would deserve more seeking. And it wasn’t long after learning
that no pursuit of God could be made without Jesus, that he began to realize
this God wanted him to lead others to find what he had.

Steve joined the Crosspointe team in April of 2006, and is fueled by that look
on an adult’s face that says, “Why didn’t anyone tell me this before?
TELL ME MORE!” So many adults reach a point in their life where they
stop listening to the message of Jesus because it's so cluttered by noise,
tradition and often times an emphasis on all the wrong things. Steve's
desire is to help those who stopped listening to begin listening again.
Because listening leads to transformed lives, to transformed homes,
communities, suburbs, inner-cities and worlds. God does exist. And
it is a big deal.

This journey of seeking and asking and being transformed by the reality of
Christ happens in many places- but best in the context of smaller groups of
people. So, Steve’s role is helping people get from the big anonymous space
on Sunday morning into small intentional communities of authenticity, faith and
friendships. He also teaches occasionally on Sunday mornings and leads many
of the Startingpointe sessions.

Steve and his wife Kristi love music and a good laugh. Both can be found in
their three children, who they dare to raise to be all the right kinds of
strange.

If you don’t find Steve reading a mind-numbingly boring book about ancient
history, he’s probably outside somewhere, trying to catch snakes,
or poison ivy.
